Composition

Each 5 mL of Simoviral Syrup by Simorgh Darou (Immune System Booster) contains:

Echinacea extract: 345 mg

Lomatium dissectum root powder: 585 mg

Astragalus membranaceus root powder: 1160 mg

Ganoderma mushroom: 485 mg

Licorice root powder: 200 mg

Standardization

Standardized to 7% glycyrrhizin.

Dosage for Adults

2.5–5 mL daily. Shake well before use.

Pharmacology and Mechanism of Action

Echinacea: Used for upper respiratory tract infections like the common cold and flu due to its antiviral and immune-stimulating properties. Polyacetylenes, such as keto-alkenes and keto-alkynes, exhibit antifungal activity.

Lomatium dissectum: Exhibits antibacterial and antiviral effects; its root extract is effective in inhibiting viruses causing gastrointestinal symptoms.

Astragalus membranaceus: Enhances immune function by activating B cells and macrophages, although it does not significantly affect T cells. It supports interferon activity, increases immunoglobulin A and G levels in nasal secretions, and raises interleukin-2 levels.

Ganoderma Mushroom: Contains polysaccharides, polysaccharide-peptide complexes, and polyphenols that regulate the immune system and exhibit antibacterial effects.

Licorice: Glycyrrhizin in licorice may inhibit coronavirus growth associated with acute respiratory syndrome.

Side Effects

No specific adverse reactions observed with recommended doses.

Drug Interactions

Contraindicated with medications like cyclophosphamide, immunosuppressants, and lithium.

Avoid use with warfarin, as interactions may increase bleeding risk.

Interactions with antihypertensives, corticosteroids, digoxin, diuretics, estrogen, and furosemide may occur due to licorice content.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Contraindications and Precautions

Patients with autoimmune diseases (e.g., MS, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis) should avoid or use with caution due to astragalus content.

Patients with heart disease, hypertension, or renal issues should avoid excessive use due to the presence of licorice.

Store below 30°C, away from light, moisture, and out of reach of children.
