Pharmacological Actions and Mechanism of Action
- Vitamin C is essential for collagen synthesis and cannot be produced by the body, so it must be obtained through diet. Vitamin C has antioxidant properties and assists in wound healing and bruising, protects the skin from UV radiation, and stimulates collagen production. It is beneficial for treating conditions such as eczema and psoriasis due to its anti-inflammatory effects.
- Vitamin E, with its excellent antioxidant properties, is essential for the growth of healthy tissues. It moisturizes and brightens the skin, reduces the effects of free radicals, aids in the treatment of burns, inflammation, cuts, and helps maintain the skin’s natural moisture.
- Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide and Niacin) is crucial for skin protection, increasing skin resistance, improving moisture retention, and providing resistance to allergens. It also helps reduce skin redness through anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting nitric oxide production induced by interleukin.
- Vitamin B6 is involved in amino acid metabolism and also plays a role in carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Deficiency can cause symptoms such as fatigue, body inflammation (especially around the lips and mouth), skin lesions, and immune and nervous system disorders.
- Calcium eliminates skin damage and discoloration, rejuvenates tired and dead skin, and is necessary for various bodily functions, even after skeletal growth has finished. It is eliminated through sweat, hair loss, skin renewal, and urination.
- Zinc plays a role in collagen production, preventing wrinkles and skin fatigue, treating skin spots, and preventing hair loss and nail brittleness. It also promotes healing in burns by reducing lipid peroxidation.
- L-Cysteine is a potent antioxidant that increases glutathione and reduces oxygen-free radical damage, providing protective effects on cells. It also has anti-inflammatory effects by reducing the production of inflammatory mediators such as Interleukin 1.
