Product Formulation

Oral syrup
Packaging: 120 mL bottle with an information leaflet, in a cardboard box.

Each 5 mL of Colic Mixture anti-flatulence syrup (Simorgh Darou) contains:

Ginger extract (Zingiber officinalis): 2.5 mg

Fennel extract (Foeniculum vulgare): 2 mg

Other Ingredients: Sucrose, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Sodium Bicarbonate, Glycerin, Purified Water

Indications

Relieves gastrointestinal discomfort and gas related to colic, teething, and hiccups.

Dosage and Administration

Infants 0–1 month: 2.5 mL daily

Infants 1–6 months: 5 mL daily

Children over 6 months: 10 mL daily

Adults: 30 mL daily
(Or as directed by a physician)
Maximum: Up to 6 doses per day. Shake well before use.

Precautions and Contraindications

Do not exceed the recommended dose. Consult a physician or pharmacist before use if taking other medications or with chronic conditions such as heart failure, gallstones, or a high risk of bleeding. Discontinue use if any allergic reaction occurs. In infants under 1 month, and during pregnancy and lactation, use only under medical supervision.

Side Effects of Colic Mixture Syrup

While natural products offer therapeutic benefits, side effects can occur. Fennel may trigger allergic reactions in the skin and respiratory system for some individuals. Those with known allergies to fennel, carrot, celery, or other members of the Apiaceae family should avoid this product.

Drug Interactions

This syrup may interact with anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, low-molecular-weight heparins, and thrombolytic agents. Additionally, it can interact with ciprofloxacin; avoid concurrent use with this antibiotic.

Pharmacology and Mechanism of Action

Fennel, due to its anethole content, acts similarly to dopamine to reduce or prevent gastrointestinal spasms and increase digestive secretion, thus enhancing digestion. Its active compounds inhibit acetylcholine and histamine to prevent intestinal spasms.
Ginger promotes gastric acid secretion, with active compounds such as gingerol, dehydrogingerdione, gingerdione, and zingiberene contributing to these effects. The herbal ingredients in this syrup can reduce esophageal sphincter contractions, releasing trapped gas, and relax smooth muscle in the large intestine through calcium ion antagonism.

Use During Pregnancy and Lactation

Use under the supervision of a healthcare provider during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Storage Instructions for Colic Mixture Pediatric Anti-Flatulence Syrup

Store in its packaging, away from light, moisture, and at temperatures below 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Close the bottle cap after each use. Protect from freezing. Discard the syrup one month after opening.
