Take 1 to 2 tablets of L-Arginine daily with a glass of water, between meals, or as directed by a physician.
L-Arginine, an essential amino acid, plays a key role in protein synthesis and vascular health. It is converted to nitric oxide in vascular endothelium, facilitating vasodilation and potentially lowering blood pressure. L-Arginine improves endothelial function, reduces monocyte/endothelial adhesion in patients with coronary artery disease or hypercholesterolemia, and increases coronary blood flow. For athletes, it can enhance oxygen delivery to muscles, reduce lactate and ammonia production during exercise, and lower oxidative stress, ultimately improving athletic performance. Additionally, nitric oxide promotes smooth muscle relaxation in the genitourinary tract, aiding erectile function. L-Arginine may also increase growth hormone, prolactin, glucagon, and insulin levels.
When taken as directed, oral L-Arginine is generally safe. However, some individuals may experience gastrointestinal issues (e.g., abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, diarrhea), skin rash, hives, or night sweats. In patients with asthma, it may exacerbate respiratory symptoms. Should any side effects arise, consult a physician or pharmacist.
Potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene), ACE inhibitors (e.g., captopril, enalapril, lisinopril), and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs): Concomitant use may increase the risk of hyperkalemia.
Antihypertensive drugs (e.g., captopril, enalapril, losartan, valsartan, diltiazem, amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide) and nitrates: Due to L-Arginine’s vasodilatory effects, blood pressure may further decrease.
Hypoglycemic agents: L-Arginine can enhance the hypoglycemic effects; monitor blood glucose levels.
Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents: Co-administration with L-Arginine may theoretically increase bleeding risk.
Sildenafil: Co-administration may theoretically cause hypotension, though no confirmed interactions in humans have been reported.
Consult a physician if taking other medications, supplements, or herbal products, or if managing chronic conditions. Avoid use if allergic to L-Arginine or any excipients in the formulation.
Recent Myocardial Infarction: Oral L-Arginine is not recommended post-recent myocardial infarction.
Asthma and Allergy: Use cautiously, as L-Arginine may worsen asthma and allergic conditions.
Herpes Infections: Caution in patients with genital or oral herpes, as L-Arginine may promote viral replication.
Elective Surgery: Discontinue L-Arginine at least two weeks before surgery to stabilize blood pressure during perioperative periods.
Short-term use of L-Arginine in recommended doses is generally safe; however, due to insufficient research, it is not advised during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Store the product in its packaging, away from light, moisture, and temperatures above 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
