Pharmacological Effects and Mechanism of Action
- Saccharomyces boulardii is used as a probiotic to improve the normal gastrointestinal flora. It provides protection against pathogenic microorganisms and is effective in the prevention and treatment of diarrhea caused by various factors, including excessive antibiotic use.
- Saccharomyces boulardii directly stimulates the production of short-chain fatty acids, especially butyrate. Butyrate plays a crucial role in regulating various gut functions, including fluid absorption, immune system stimulation, anti-inflammatory effects, and neuronal cell growth.
- Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble vitamin, acting as a powerful antioxidant. It supports skin health, maintains cellular membranes, enhances immune function, strengthens bones, and improves the absorption of iron and zinc.
